Gabriola Fire Fighters Join CUPE

CUPE BC proudly welcomed Gabriola Island fire fighters as new members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Canada’s largest union, in a move announced on March 18, 2025. Sixteen fire fighters from the Gabriola Island Fire Protection Improvement District are now represented by CUPE Local 606, marking the first time the island’s fire service has been unionized under CUPE.
